New tariffs on imported aluminum and steel will be in effect March 25th, 2018. President Trump has announced that the tariffs are to protect the American aluminum and steel industries, as well as homeland security. The aluminum tariff will be 10%, and steel 25%. The White House announced that Canada and Mexico have been exempted from the tariffs pending further negotiations of NAFTA.

Since many products and components manufactured in the sign and graphics industry are made from these materials, the tariffs could raise costs and lower the availability of these products.

The International Sign Association (ISA) states that there could be negative consequences on the sign and graphics industry due to these tariffs. Stay updated by following ISA on social media or visiting their website: www.signs.org.
